If coming from Fort Langley follow River Road east, make a right at 256 Street, then make a left on to 84 Ave. 257A Street is about a quarter of a kilometre, on the left hand side.

If coming from Aldergrove or the freeway go north on 264 Street, make a left on to 84 Ave, 257A is about a kilometre and a quarter, on the right hand side

PETITION AT LANGLEY FARMERS MARKET

Watchers of Langley Forests will have a petition table at the Langley Farmer's Market on Wednesday August 22  from 2 pm to 6 pm. Anyone who would like to help take an 1 hour or 2 hour shift from 2pm to 5pm should contact barbshelly@gmail.com.
UPDATE An earlier version of this posting mistakenly stated that the petition will be at the Langley Farmer's Market this Wednesday. It has now been corrected. We apologize for the mistake and any confusion it created.

CBC VIDEO:FOREST FIGHT

Here is the link to the CBC story.

And here is the link to the online story that Radio Canada did. Those of you who speak and read french could send us a translation at savemclellanpark@gmail.com
Not sure if there is a Radio Canada video though.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FOLKS

Thank you to everyone who came out to help with the forest walks yesterday. We won't win this fight without your support and many others like you. Thanks also to those who came out yesterday and took a walk in the woods. I hope you all signed the petition. Those of you  who volunteered to take a petition sheet home with you and collect signatures are especially appreciated.

A big Thank you also  to Councillor David Davis, who took the time in a busy day to drop by and show his support once more.We hope he is not the last member of the Council to do so.

And thank you to Radio Canada and CBC for coming out to cover this important story.

As many of you know the name of Mclellan Park and by extension this blog are taken from the pioneer family .the Mclellans. It was especially heartening  to have two senior members of the family,John and Phylis  Mclellan drop by to show their support. Thank you to them and indeed other members of the Mclellan family. We hope the background information that they provided will prove fruitful. Certainly learning about early Langley history is always interesting.

As always people need to make their voices heard by writing to Mayor and Council and also writing letters to the editor.

PROGRESS REPORT-PETITIONS AND GUIDED TOURS

Thank you to everybody who came out to Fort Langley on Sunday August 5 and helped collect signatures for the petition and to everyone who showed their support by signing the petition. By the end of the day we had collected about three hundred signatures. Way to Go!!

The next thing on our agenda is the free guided tours next Sunday August 12 of the Mclellan Park East site just behind Gray Pit.Over the next few days we will be making a big push to get the word out that this is happening. So please tell your family, friends, neighbours, and co-workers.We will be putting up posters and trying to get the word out on the Internet.

We are going to need help the rest of this summer and into the fall.. So if you would like to help put up posters this week, help with the guided tours on Sunday, or gather signatures for the petition this week and beyond send an email to savemclellanpark@gmail.com. Include the word volunteer in the subject line. Don't assume that because the things I mentioned are not in your comfort zone or that they are beyond the amount of time and energy that you can commit that you can't help.Perhaps you're a computer whiz.or maybe you are really good a putting together videos for youtube, or you can devote a few hours to taking photographs on Sunday or some other day. Tell us what your skill set is and will tell you if you can help. You may surprise yourself or even us.

The free guided tours will begin at noon Sunday and contiue until five. We won't turn anybody away if you show up late and we're still there. To get to there  take 264the street from Aldergrove or the freeway until you get to 84th Avenue then turn left onto 84th. Follow 84th  until you get to 257A street. Access to the trailhead is on 257A. An info table will at the trailhead.

To get there from Fort Langley leave Fort Langley by way of River Road.Follow River Road until you cross the West Creek Bridge. River Road then becomes 88th Avenue. Turn at 252nd or at 256th. Take 84th until you get to 257A. The rest should be obvious.

I hope to see you there. Until then check out these  pictures.
